CONCRETE MIX DESIGN
The newly placed concrete
should contain a minimum of 5 1/2 sacks (517 lbs.) of cement
per cubic yard of concrete. The slump should not exceed
four inches and the aggregates must be non-reactive. Refer
to ASTM C 260 to insure that air-entrained mixtures are
properly specified in areas that are subject to freeze-thaw
cycles. Normal use of retarding set, water reducing admixtures
may be used. DO NOT USE ANY ADMIXTURES OR ADDITIVES THAT
CONTAIN CALCIUM CHLORIDE. Other non-chloride accelerators
may be used during cold weather. Avoid using fly ash and
high range water reducing ad mixtures such as superplasticizers.
COVERAGE
Coverage will vary
depending on the color and the intended use of the flatwork.
A minimal coverage rate should be 60lbs./100 square feet.
For heavier commercial applications the rate should be at
least 90lbs./100 square feet. Light colors will require
20-100 % more color hardener per one-hundred square feet
depending on the usage and affect.
PACKAGING
DCF Dry Shake Color
Hardener is packaged in five-gallon pails (60 lbs.). Shelf
life is a minimum of six months from the date of purchase
and should be rotated in inventory.

SAFETY
DCF DRY SHAKE COLOR HARDENER CONTAINS
PORTLAND CEMENT AND QUARTZ. AVOID EXPOSURE TO THE EYES AND
SKIN. DUST MASKS (NIOSH/MSHA TC 21C APPROVED), SAFETY GOGGLES
AND GLOVES ARE RECOMMENDED. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.
Use with adequate ventilation. Wet
Portland cement may cause alkali burns. Before using or handling
read the MSDS information.
FIRST AID: If color hardener
is exposed to the eyes, do not rub and immediately flush thoroughly
with water. When exposed to the skin wash thoroughly with
soap and water. If inhaled move to fresh air. If any adverse
symptoms persist or develop or if ingested seek medical attention
immediately.
COLORS
DCF Dry Shake Color Hardeners are
available in all standard colors: Antique White, Ivory Sand,
Putty, Taupe, Silver, Buff, Pecan, Coral, Terra Cotta, Tile
Red, Brick Red, Mauve, Gunmetal, Slate, Gray and Charcoal.
Custom colors are available with adequate
lead times. Call for details.
